12 Tags of 2012 with Tim Holtz- December

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I can't believe another year has come and gone...they seem to be flying right by me!  Do Ya'll find it sad when we get to the last of the 12 Tags like I do?  Doing the 12 Tags with Tim is the one crafting constants in my craft world, I always get so much inspiration from him and of course with each Tag I learn something and I love that.

If you happen to read this Tim, thank you VERY much for the ideas, the inspiration , the wonderful tools and supplies and for EVERYTHING you do for us crafters!

I loved both of the Tags Tim did, however I just wasn't able to get two finished.  I absolutely must get those Blueprint Stamps in the new year! If you haven't seen them, you MUST check out his Blog!  I chose to do the Poinsettia Tag for this month.  Again I did some improvising since I don't "yet" own the same supplies Tim has *snicker*.  I used a textured cardstock for my Tag base this time and like the way it turned out with the Stains :-)   I've listed all of the supplies I used below the photo.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

Supplies I used:
Tim Holtz Tag and Bookplate Die
Tim Holtz Pine Tree Die
Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers Snowflake Die

12 Tags of 2012 with Tim Holtz - November

Howdy, howdy, howdy!  I have had this Tag done for a couple of weeks now but been so busy re-installing programs and such on the computer as well as getting all of the critters ready for winter.  It's hard to believe it's getting near the end of November and we're still wearing our tee shirts outside!   Today my Husband and I built a highrise nesting box for my Muscovy ducks because they don't like sharing the duck house nest boxes with my other (non flying) ducks.

Ok, on to my Tag.  I don't have all of the supplies that Tim used, I think there has been one month in the last 3 yrs that I had all of the same supplies he used LOL   I improvised and I'm very happy with this pretty Fall Tag.   You really need to see Tim's though, it's beyond gorgeous! You can see it on his Blog, here.

I am "thankful" that my Husband helped me build the highrise nests, I never could have done it by myself.
I used Tim's Thanksgiving Texture Fade, then cut out the word Thankful and inked it up. I adhered it to my tag using the awesome Tiny Attacher...love that little stapler to bits!  I used Tim's Autumn Gatherings Sizzix Die to cut all of my leaves, branches and acorns using Tim's Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection by Core' dinations.  The stamps I used on the background are Tim's Flourish Stamp and his Mixed Media Stamp Set.  I inked everything up with Distress Inks in  Gathered Twigs, Vintage Photo and Dried Marigold. I also used Dried Marigold Distress stain on the background and to color my crinkled ribbon.  Everything was glued into place using Glossy Accents and Glue n Seal by Ranger.

Here is a full shot of the Highrise Nesting Box we built for my Girls.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone, and Happy Crafting!

12 Tags of 2012- October

I don't own any Tim Holtz Halloween stuff, or at least I didn't until I won a prize on Tim's Blog a couple of weeks ago :-)  Thank you SO much Tim, I love the papers, tinsel, muse tokens, chit chat stickers and bingo game pieces! Here's a photo of my prize (from Tim's blog)
I was worried I might not get this month's tag done because my laptop died on me 2 weeks ago. I will never buy a 17 inch HP again unless they start putting more powerful fans and graphic cards in them.  I'm back online now, still installing all of my programs and getting used to windows 7...I was a vista girl before LOL

On to my Tag...again THANK YOU to Tim and Mario for this awesome gift which I used to make my Tag. I also used Distress Ink in Black Soot and Vintage Photo along with Tim's Bookplate and Tag die.  Be sure to stop by Tim's Blog and check his out!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Rusty Canvas

I love rust, for years I've collected rusty metal items from barbed wire to old oil cans.  I was tickled to see the challenge on Simon Says Stamp and Show was RUST!  I made this altered 12x12 stretched canvas for my Best Friend. I used acrylic paints, distress inks, Tim Holtz Dies and lots of Tim Holtz Grungeboard to create this altered canvas. I think I need to make one for myself as well.   I'm entering this into the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge

September 2012 Tim Tag

Hello Fellow Crafters! I'm happy to report that the humid days with 100+ degree days are over! I'm so happy to see Fall coming around the corner!

I had a lot of fun creating the september Tag and am really pleased with the outcome. As usual I don't have all of the same supplies that Tim used on his, but that's half the fun, trying to see what I can come up with using the supplies I have on hand.  If you haven't seen Tim's September Tag yet...check it out here!

The supplies I used are:

Tim Holtz Tag and Bookplate Die
Tim Holtz Mini Jalope Movers and Shapers Die
Tim Holtz Mini Gear Movers and Shapers die
Tim Holtz Game Spinners
Tim Holtz Crowded Attic Paper Stash
Tim Holtz Journey Stamp
Ranger Distress Ink in  Vintage Photo and Black Soot
Ranger Alcohol Inks in Slate and Cranberry
Ranger Collage Glue Stick
Ranger Glossy Accents

Unfortunately I did not have the main ingredient for the tag background but I did have a roll of Foil Tape from the hardware store (left over from when we built our house in 2005). It's heavier than the Ranger Foil Sheets and doesn't take the tool impressions as well(love Tim's tip about using a ballpoint pen and edge of credit card!) but it did work better than the kitchen aluminum foil I first started with LOL

Once I finished the Tag I went on to make a light switch cover for the garage:
and before I close this post...here is a photo of one of the ducklings I hatched here in the house...she hated it when I'd put her in the brooder, she wanted to be close by me in the craft room all the time LOL

I am also submitting these projects for the wonderful Studio L3 Compendium of Curiosities2 Challenge 22...check it out HERE
Happy Crafting from lil MissDot and I!

12 Tags of 2012- August

Between ducklings hatching like crazy and a sick Husband I wasn't sure I'd get my Tag done this month LOL

I couldn't resist using a silhouette of a duck for my Tag...I love my Ducks :-)  I didn't have the same supplies on hand that Tim used but part of the fun is seeing just how I can use his Tag as inspiration to get me going. If you aren't playing along with Tim's 12 Tags of 2012 you are missing out big time!  Check out Tim's blog and play along!

The supplies I used are:
Tim Holtz Tag and Bookplate Die
Tim Holtz Pinecone Die
Tim Holtz Autumn Gatherings Die
Tim Holtz Springtime Background Embossing Folder
Tim Holtz Styled Labels Die
Distress Inks in  Vintage Photo, Pumice Stone and Tea Dye, Embossing Ink
Distress Stain: Tattered Rose
Ranger Clear Embossing Powder
Ranger Acrylic Paint Dabber in Juniper
Tim Holtz Kraft Core Paper
Duck silhouette from my Best Friend
Feathers from one of my ducks

12 Tags of 2012- July

Here is my July Tag for the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2012 fun over at Tim's Blog.
I love that Tim encourages us to be inspired by his Tag, I love love love his but don't have the same supplies that he used so this is my version.
I cut the Tag out using the Tim Holtz Tag and Bookplate Die then inked it up with Ranger Distress Ink in Festive Berries.  I spritzed the tag with water and inked the edges in Black Soot.  I used one of the 4's from the Grungeboard Digits and Punctuation set, inked it up with Faded Jeans Distress Stain, then used the Ranger's Inkssentials White Pen to highlight the Harlequin design and inked the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink.  I stamped the Tim Holtz CityScape with Black Soot, stamped the Tim Holtz Stars with Distress Embossing Ink and white embossing powder, then stamped a few of the stars from the Graphic 45 Le Cirque 1 stamp set and used white embossing powder on them.  Before attaching the number 4 I sprayed the whole tag with Ranger's Perfect Pearls Pearl Mist. I colored the Seam Binding with Festive Berries and Faded Jeans.

Butterfly Tag

When I saw the Challenge for Simon Says Stamp Challenge was to create a Tag or ACT I knew exactly what I wanted to make.  I love making Tags! Having the Tim Holtz Tag and Bookplate Die makes it so easy...love love love this die! I love Butterflies and Tim's Papillon Stamp set is still one of my favorite go to stamp sets. Pair the stamp set up with his Crowded Attic Papers, Distress Markers and Ranger's Embossing powder and voila! I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink to color the Tag, then stamped it using Tim's Flourish stamp and Ranger's Archival Ink in Coffee.  I colored the Butterflies on the Crowded Attic papers with Distress Makers and then stamped and cut out the largest Butterfly in the Stamp set and adhered it with pop dots. I was going for a "specimen" style look without sticking pins in the beautiful Butterfly (ouch!)  I colored the seam binding with Antique Linen Distress Stain, added one of Tim's Idea-ology pins and adhered some vintage lace to the bottom of the Tag.  I'm entering this Tag into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge.

Imagine...Live your dreams

Hello from rainy (FINALLY) southern Arkansas!
I've been wanting to alter a canvas for a couple of months now...it's been quite a while since I last did one.   I sat down yesterday and dove in...it was a full day of Spraying, Stenciling, Inking, Glueing, tearing, piercing...just the perfect way to spend the day :-)

This week on the Simon Says Stamp and Show Blog the Challenge is Spritz,Spray,or Stencil...and that I did all three. I honestly started out with no theme in mind, just had fun digging through my stash and putting it all together. I'm ready to dive in and start another one, these are SO addicting!

12 Tags of 2012 with Tim Holtz-June

Boy this month just got away from me! Another month of hatching ducklings, broody chickens and hatching turkeys here on Hen House Hill!!

I love, love, LOVE Tim's Tag for June (thank  you for the great image Tim!), I don't have all of the supplies on hand that Tim used but had fun improvising and this is what I came up with:

I tinted the image with Worn Lipstick and Tattered Rose Distress Ink and a waterbrush. I did the mottled stain technique for the background of my Tag and then stamped it using Tim's Flourish and Post Card stamp with Ranger Archival Ink in Coffee (love that color!!!) I added the piece of Tim Holtz Film Ribbon with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher (is it just me or does this lil stapler make you want to staple everything in sight?!). I used Antique Linen Distress Stain to dye the seam binding, colored the muse token with Ranger Pearl White Paint Dabber..unfortunately the flash made the whole token look white. The feathers behind the bottom of the photo image are from one of my ducks.  Be sure to head over to Tim's Blog and check out his Tag..it's wonderful!

Grandma's Brag Book

I couldn't wait to get my hands on the Little Darlings Collection by Graphic45!  I adore these papers, the images remind me of family photos from when my Brothers and I were babies and I can't help but smile everytime I look at them.  I used paper from both the 12 x 12 and the 8x8 Paper Pads along with the chipboard Embellishments, Weathered Wood Distress Ink, Seam Binding and the Bind-It-All to create this mini album.  I'm entering this album into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog for their Anything But a Card Challenge.   Here is a photo of the Cover and a few of the inside pages. There are 20 inside pages in total.

12 Tags of 2012 with Tim Holtz-May

I was worried I'd never get finished with this Tag...seems like this month is just flying by at a rapid pace!
If you aren't yet playing along with Tim Holtz and the 12 Tags of 2012, you might want to check it out here on his Blog.  I love all of Tim's Tags and really enjoy the challenge of trying to use the same theme or technique as him...there's always lots of improvising involved in my Tags which makes it twice as fun.  I didn't have a sewing pattern because I gave all of mine away a few years ago however I do have Tim's Crowded Attic papers and there are some lovely sewing themed papers in the Collection.  I cut one of those papers using Tim's Tag and Bookplate Die and adhered it to cardstock, then I distressed the edges of the tag and inked it up with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I also cut a few images out of one of the other sewing themed papers in Crowded Attic and inked their edges up. As I was waiting on my melting pot to heat up I remembered that I had some vintage sewing supplies that my dear friend Peggy gave to me and as usual I ended up going in a whole different direction than originally planned ;-)   I cut the mini dress from using Tim's Sewing Room movers and shapers die  and added a double loop crinkled ribbon bow. I took some of the vintage sewing supply packaging and inked up the edges and applied them in layers onto my tag. I added one of Tim's Hanger Clips adorned with one of his lovely Pearls to the side of the tag and then finished it off with a messy run of stitching with my sewing machine. I used a Ranger Collage Stick to adhere all of my papers together...I love love love the Ranger collage stick, in fact I think I'm on my third stick already LOL

Olde Curiosity Shoppe Mini Album

The Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge this week is "Anything Goes!"...of course that's my favorite type of challenge so I decided to make a mini album for it. This album is a little bigger than my hand and fits perfectly into my small purse..I love it!

I used Kraft Cardstock for the cover/spine and page bases. I used papers from the Graphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe Collection, Ranger Distress Inks, Tim Holtz Idea-ology goodies, Tim Holtz Tissue Tape, Wendy Vecchi Blossom Bucket Eyeglasses, Crochet Cotton to bind the album and Seam Binding for the closure.
Here is the front cover:

A side view of the outside:
Some of the inside pages:
I also made 3 sections to keep track of my Crafting Wishlists, Notes and Ideas, RAKS and Swaps:

Anything but Square...JustRite Challenge

I was SO excited to see today's JustRite Friday Challenge because I just got this Vintage Cabinet Card Die a couple of weeks ago and was ready to play with it. I cut the card front using the Vintage Cabinet Die, adhered it to a piece of white Bazzill cardstock folded in half and then fussy cut it out.  I used the stamps from my StampRite Cardmaking Kit Stamp Set (love this set!) , Papers from the Graphic 45 Little Darlings Collection, Spellbinders Tear Drop Circles Dies, Want 2 Scrap Bling , Ranger's Archival Ink and ribbon from my stash.
